On our first trip to Costa Rica, we fell in love with the friendly people, relaxed pace, lush scenery and glorious ocean of Esterillos Este. Although we had successful careers and a lovely Venice Beach home, we started looking for a way to escape our hectic Southern California life.
Our first step was to purchase a piece of property for a future home. We had been married for 3 years, and realized that we needed a plan to make our desired life-style changes. So in 2013, we toured Costa Rica looking for an opportunity. We purchased Encantada Ocean Cottages. Nome’s management skills honed during 24 years of owning an IT consultant business and Tiffany’s organizational talents learned as an orthopedic account executive are key to our success in turning Encantada Ocean Cottages into an enchanting and well-run getaway. Our two dogs, Dime and Koal, made the trip with us and have settled in wonderfully. They love that our “work” day includes them. Visitors are greeted by wet noses and wagging tails.
After 1 ½ years of preparing for the move, we’ve made Costa Rica our home. We currently live in the hotel, but look forward to building a home on the property we originally purchased.
We invite you to visit Encantada Ocean Cottages and share our passion for Costa Rica’s captivating culture, enjoy healthy farmer’s market food, practice yoga, and discuss fine wines with Nome.
Wishing you pura vida,
Tiffany and Nome
Encantada Ocean Cottages are located in Esterillos Este, a small friendly community less than 2 hours from the San Jose airport on the Central Pacific Coast. The property was originally an elementary school, and then was converted into a B & B integrated with a sky diving school. When family situations prompted the sale of this property, the opportunity presented itself to Nome & Tiffany. While maintaining the simple, clean and spacious accommodations that reflect the school's heritage, Tiffany and Nome are working to create a boutique atmosphere. The spacious cottages are on a lush green acre nestled in a tropical setting situated right on the vast chocolate sand beach. It is peaceful and relaxing. There are seven unique cottages with air conditioning, hot showers and wi-fi. The hotel features a library, patio, restaurant and pristine swimming pool surrounded by tropical gardens.
Playa Esterillos is located about 20 minutes from the town of Jaco in the Central Pacific region of Costa Rica. This beach is separated into Esterillos Este and Estrillos Oeste (East & West). Esterillos is still very underdeveloped which makes it a quiet and relaxing place to get away from it all.
This part of the Central Pacific has one of the most consistent and cleanest breaks for surfers. Waves frequently break head high and are great year round. Besides surfing, the beach is friendly towards all sorts of activities, such as horseback riding and volleyball. At low tide, the size of the beach increases dramatically, creating a blemish free vastness of dark sand waiting to be explored by beach combers.
Activities include surfing, swimming, deep sea fishing, ATV tours, bicycle rentals, horseback excursions, crocodile safari, national parks and reserves, boat and kayak excursions, white-water rafting, canopy tours, zip-linig, mangrove tours, canyoning and waterfall route repelling. Also, if desired, a popular nightlife is available just miles away in the city of Jaco. The main city of Jaco offers most services, such as a post office, health center, and branches of major banks. There are an abundance of surf shops souvenir shops and restaurants.
